People across the UK are bracing themselves for worsening weather conditions overnight after forecasters predicted heavier rain which has already brought flooding chaos all around the country.

A motorist has died after he got trapped in his own car in floodwater and police are still searching for a second  missing man feared drowned as Britain is expecting more wet and windy weather in the upcoming days.

Eddy Carroll, the Met Office’s chief forecaster, said: “The current very unsettled spell of weather is set to continue across the country over the next few days. The rain will spread north and east as the picture remains uncertain for the start of next week. We are also forecasting gusts of 60-70mph for southern counties of England with the potential for storm force winds over the English Channel.”

Today Prime Minister David Cameron spoke of his shock at the flooding which has hit the South West and promised to “ensure everything is being done to help”. He also added some comments on Twitter stating that ” the government will help ensure everything is being done to help.”

In the meantime, as emergency services rescue crews and the Environment Agency are gathering to decide how they can deal with this situation, people in Southwest England have been advised to flee their homes as floodwaters and torrential rain cause serious threats to life and property.
